Much of the game pacing is much slower than Kingdom Rush because of this, and your enjoyment will depend on whether this is a type of game you typically play. Here and there, 15-30 seconds pass just waiting before you can risk advancement. When you have no base and your units almost die (no revival if no base), retreating means running off and away to have your units idly sit by on the screen while they slooooowly heal. In terms of gameplay pacing, that's where there can be an issue. There will occasionally be new units introduced that will permanently be destroyed through the remainder of the mission. The game is a lot less forgiving than Kingdom Rush. It can be a bit frustrating before you realize you've been clicking units and that you need to find a space with no units. There's also some issues occurring where moving the camera, you sometimes move units instead, which cancels all their attacks until they stop moving. The interface, however, is a little clunky and improving heroes seems a little obtuse. The heroes are all very unique and some will be more useful on certain missions than others. In terms of artwork, you can see how far they've come from their first game to this. The art style is really colorful, intriguing, and I really love the aliens. It's a Starcraft-like game more about discovering a map and keeping a solid mix between defending your base and advancing the map. So Kingdom Rush is my favorite iOS game, and months after playing the games until 5am like 2 weeks in a row, I still turn those games on for an hour or so to work on some of the end missions. I think there's great potential here and I hope they keep expanding the game, but today, at least to me, it feels kinda so so.

you just don't get enough command points to feel you're commanding an army, you gotta rely heavily on your towers to defend against the AI rush, then sort of slowly push forward by capturing refinery points and building more towers (maybe I'm nitpicking and not taking into consideration the limitations of mobile devices, but still.). I mean you gotta make do with 3 - 4 units (including the hero) in practically every mission.
IRON MARINES REDDIT BLUETOOTH
no skirmish against AI, no multiplayer options of any kind (is bluetooth mp possible?) and I share the same opinions that a premium title shouldn't have IAPs unless its for more content (GOF2, anthill, etc).Īlso, I've played the first 6 missions and I can't shake the feeling that this title looks more like a blend of an offense/defense tower game with minimum elements of RTS. I instabought it the minute I read it was out and I do like it, but I'm also kinda disappointed. I'm having mixed feelings with this release.
